Research Lines

Logic Synthesis

In this research line, we create modifications in the synthesis flows to develop specific application microprocessors and other digital systems for specific applications.
We have used the Alliance VLSI CAD tools. This is free software but now we are very interested in the use of commercial software for educational purposes like Synopsys, Cadence and Mentor Graphics. At the moment we have designed microprocessors of 8, 16 and 24 bits for the data bus.
We have two undergraduate courses where the synthesis flow is taught. And we collaborate with researchers from the Instituto Tecnologico de Cd. Guzman and the Universidad Autonoma de Cd. Juarez.

Analog Circuits

In the Analog and Mixed Signal Integrated Circuit research group we are focused on enhancing the operation of systems such as LDOs, filters, voltage references, and Analog-Digital and Digital-Analog converters. For some of these implementations we combine analog and digital designs to provide increased performance by getting the best from both worlds. Presently, some of the techniques we are developing for these systems include Floating Gate dc level setting for Analog and Digital design, output buffers with rail-to-rail dynamic range, constant gm differential amplifiers with rail-to-rail input stages, and Class AB output stages.
